Understand “Quota Exceeded” Results
When LessFlux marks a file as “Quota Exceeded”, it means the image or video was not processed because your available optimization quota has been fully used.
This is not a technical failure. It is a limit based on your current plan or available credits.
What this status actually means
LessFlux only processes files when there are available tokens. Each successful optimization consumes tokens from your account.
If no tokens are available at the time of processing:
- the file is not optimized
- the system skips processing
- the file is marked as “Quota Exceeded”
The file remains unchanged until quota becomes available again.
When this usually happens
You will typically see this status in the following situations:
- you reached your monthly plan limit
- you used all available credits
- bulk optimization consumed your remaining quota
- multiple uploads happened in a short time
This is more common on media-heavy sites or during the initial bulk optimization phase.
Does this mean something is broken
No. This status means the system is working correctly but cannot continue without available quota.
Unlike a “Failed” status, this is not caused by an error or misconfiguration.
What happens to affected files
Files marked as “Quota Exceeded” are simply skipped.
- they remain in their original state
- no optimization is applied
- no tokens are consumed
Once quota is available again, these files can be processed.
How to resolve it
To continue optimizing files, you need to restore available quota.
- upgrade your plan
- purchase additional credits
- wait for your quota to reset (if applicable)
After that, you can reprocess affected files.
How to reprocess skipped files
Files that were skipped due to quota can be optimized later.
- run bulk optimization again
- or trigger processing manually if available
LessFlux will attempt to process them again once tokens are available.
How to avoid hitting quota too quickly
You can manage usage more efficiently by:
- running bulk optimization in stages instead of all at once
- excluding unnecessary image sizes
- avoiding reprocessing already optimized files
- monitoring usage before starting large operations
This is especially important for large websites with thousands of media files.

“Quota Exceeded” is not an issue with the system. It is simply a limit being enforced. Once quota is restored, processing continues normally.
